Minter Ellison resurrects Perth office

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

Minter Ellison has opened a fully integrated office in Perth. The move is said to permit the firm to offer ‘Tier 1’ services to the Western Australian market.

‘Our integrated presence in Perth recognises the fundamental importance of the Western Australian marketplace as having both local and international significance.’ said Andrew Cunningham, Minter Ellison acting Chief Executive Partner.

While the new office is described, in a firm press release, as an ‘expansion’ – it realistically represents damage control after US-firm Squire Sanders eviscerated Minter Ellison’s former branded affiliate office in Perth.

The reconstituted Perth office commenced trading on 1 October and has, at present, 30 lawyers. Minter Ellison says it expects to grow the WA offering to 50 lawyers in the near future.

The firm has 3 floors at Allendale Square, 77 St Georges Terrace.

Not too far, it seems, from old friends at Squire Sanders.
